Simon is a very capable lawyer who specialises in problem solving, with over 20 years in the profession. Simon acts in a wide number of areas and clients can draw on this wealth of experience to resolve seemingly intractable disputes.

Civil and Commercial litigation – Simon is adept and respected at both County Court, High Court and Commercial Court level and brings to the table well-honed tactical acumen to advance or defend your case. Litigation can be stressful and expensive and Simon aims to find a solution that may avoid such painful experiences and often employs mediation and direct consultation as an alternative form of dispute resolution to engaging the Courts. Residential and Commercial Conveyancing – Simon heads an approachable and empathetic team dedicated to making your move proceed smoothly. He is vastly experienced in this field and you will find his matter-of-fact and solutions-driven approach invaluable in safely navigating the purchase and/or sale of your property. Simon also deals with numerous clients moving to Northern Ireland from Great Britain, a growing market.

Divorce and Family Law- Simon can help you navigate the financial and emotional minefield of a marriage break-up with patience, sound advice and sensible negotiation. Simon acted for the successful Respondent in contact proceedings before the Court of Appeal in 2022. HM and VM (PDF 142 KB)

Crime – You may not have been in trouble with the police before. Simon has helped many clients deal with criminal proceedings from road traffic offences to serious sexual offences

Liquor Licensing – Simon can help you process your liquor licence application speedily and assist in all aspects of the process, including obtaining floor plans, setting advertising and obtaining fire safety approval and attending personally in Court on your behalf.

Foreign Property Issues – Simon has successfully acted for over 200 families in a series of complex, high-value group litigation actions involving the mis-selling of foreign and investment property in Italy, Spain, England and around the world. L v Bumble (2020) – Simon acted for the plaintiffs in respect of a claim in privacy and breach of copyright brought against an online dating platform arising out of use of an image of the plaintiffs harvested online by the defendants as part of an advertising campaign on Instagram.

Land Disputes – Simon can assist you with your boundary dispute. Most recently, Simon successfully represented his client in a complex and antagonistic dispute where a neighbour sought to claim part of their garden [2021] NICh 26 | Judiciary NI

Discrimination/Free Speech cases – Simon is currently representing a group of claimants who allege they were discriminated against for holding gender-critical beliefs Father Ted writer Graham Linehan among group taking legal action against Belfast pub in row over ‘gender critical beliefs’ – The Irish News. Simon is a member of the Free Speech Union Northern Ireland Advisory Council.

Simon is an experienced Notary Public and is focused in provided a speedy and efficient service when documents are required to be notarised and legalised swiftly.

Simon sits on the Law Society Council as a Constituency Representative for the Eastern Division of Northern Ireland and is a member of the Contentious Business Committee, Family Law Committee, Future of the Legal Profession Committee and Climate Justice Group. Simon is also the Chairperson of Bangor Lawn Tennis Club.
